  • U.S. exports increased by 1.8 percent annually to $46.1 billion in 2014

The United States reported a services trade surplus with Japan of $17.8 billion in 2014, down from $20.6 billion in 2010. U.S. exports of services to Japan increased by $3.3 billion during 2010–14, while U.S. imports grew by $6.0 billion. Travel services accounted for the largest category of U.S. exports to Japan, accounting for 38 percent of total exports, followed by professional services and by royalties and license fees (19 percent and 17 percent, respectively). Royalties and license fees made up the largest category of U.S. imports from Japan (43 percent).
