ITC PUBLISHING SUPPLEMENT TO 2004 HARMONIZED TARIFF SCHEDULE
The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) today announced that it is publishing the 2004 Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States - Supplement 1.
The ITC, an independent, nonpartisan, quasi-judicial agency, updates and publishes the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) annually, and it posts interim updates throughout the year on its Internet site (www.usitc.gov/taffairs.htm). Two versions of the document are currently available.
The first version, the 2004 HTS Annotated Edition, will be applicable from January 1, 2004, through June 30, 2004. It reflects changes made to the HTS as a result of the implementation of free trade agreements with Chile and Singapore, as well as other previously proclaimed modifications.
The second version, the 2004 HTS Supplement 1, will be applicable as of July 1, 2004. It reflects amendments to the HTS that have occurred since the publication of the HTS in January. It will include changes identified in Federal Register notices published on the ITC's web site as well as more recent revisions to the Generalized System of Preferences program. A complete listing of changes for Supplement 1 can be found in the Preface of the new publication.
The 2004 HTS Supplement 1 has been forwarded to the Government Printing Office for printing as the 2004 edition of the HTS. Information on ordering printed or CD-ROM copies of the 2004 HTS should be directed to the Government Printing Office (http://bookstore.gpo.gov). The printing of these documents will take a number of weeks.
Questions concerning the HTS and pending changes can be directed to the ITC's Office of Tariff Affairs and Trade Agreements at 202-205-3440. Specific questions related to the HTS or other tariff matters can be directed to http://www.usitc.gov/tatamail/contact.htm.
